  • Walk Cromwell - There are many unique walks around our region and a good place to start is the Cromwell Information Centre where you can pick up a walking guide with maps.
  • Old Cromwell Town - where past meet present. The reconstructed precinct is a reminder of Cromwell's past. These replica buildings
  • Orchard Tours - Cromwell, being the stone fruit capital of New Zealand has many orchards right on its doorstep. Some of these have excellent fruit stalls and offer orchard tours.
  • Wine Tours - Viticulture is the newest industry in the Cromwell basin. The quality of the region's wines is becoming internationally recognised. Tours can be arranged. Some wineries have quality restaurants attached.
  • Trout Fishing – Lake Dunstan is a world class sports fishery for rainbow and brown trout. You may purchase a licence and do your own thing or hire a local professional fishing guide who will supply gear and take you out.
  • Eco Tours - The Bendigo wetland at the head of lake Dunstan provides habitat for a wide range of native and introduced waterfowl, including the very rare southern crested grebe.
  • Mountain Biking - The rugged terrain and the wide variety of trails in our region make it an exciting place for this activity. The flat to steep topography, dry conditions and good climate are conducive to great biking.
  • Sports - Cromwell has an excellent range of sporting facilities including an 18 hole championship golf course, sports turf, bowling greens, squash court, heated swim centre, tennis and netball courts.
